When Grahame and I began Duxton Dental, in 1996, we had a vision to create a dental practice that had an environment and atmosphere that made people feel comfortable and well looked after.
Everything has been planned in minute detail to achieve a place where both patients and staff alike look forward to going to.
We have focused especially on extra courses to up skill ourselves and have purchased the latest technology to provide the best dentistry we can. The other focus has been on providing the best possible customer service. To do this we have employed an amazing team of staff who all have similar goals and by constantly upgrading our people skills and services in order to provide the best dental experience we can.
I am very proud of what we have achieved so far and look forward to the challenge of continual improvement.
Career History
After graduating from Otago University in 1990, I worked as a Dental House Surgeon in Wellington Hospital for two years. Immediately after our wedding Grahame and I headed for Coffs Harbour in Australia where we spent an idyllic eighteen months working in private practice. Europe then beckoned and I sampled NHS dentistry and had some fascinating experiences as an Oral and Maxillo-facial House Surgeon in Scotland.
Our two year OE was interspersed with exciting trips to Egypt, Israel, Africa, Nepal, Finland to name just a few. On returning to my home town of Christchurch we had the challenge of buying a home, a dental practice and starting a family all within the first year back. Life has been exhilarating ever since.
Ongoing Professional Development
I am dedicated to the need to continually educate and up-skill myself in order to provide optimum dental care.
At Duxton Dental we currently achieve more than double the number of continuing education hours required by the New Zealand Dental Association.
At present our practice is half-way through a three year programme called Prime Practice which puts aside the dentistry and focuses on achieving our dream dental practice through efficient management, people skills, leadership and customer services.
Interests
Working three days a week and parenting four children certainly keeps me out of mischief ! Life is fairly hectic but when I get a spare moment I enjoy reading, dancing, exercising, and most importantly, spending time with friends and family.
