I graduated from the University of Otago in 1990 with a Bachelor of Dental Surgery. The following two years were spent in windy Wellington in private practice and then as a second year house surgeon based at Hutt Hospital.
It was then time for the big OE which started with in sunny Coffs Harbour working in private general practice and hospitals performing oral surgery. My surgical interests then led me to a position as a Staff Grade Oral Surgeon at the Edinburgh Dental Hospital. This was supplemented with private practice jobs and nips, tatties and haggis. Returning to NZ took six months traveling through Eastern Europe, Africa, Nepal, India and Thailand before settling in the beautiful city of Christchurch.
In 1996 my wife Christine and I established Duxton Dental utilising all the positive experiences, knowledge and skills gleaned from our previous years of working in other practices and hospitals.
In our drive to provide the optimal experience for our patients, in 2002, we designed and constructed our current purpose built surgery at 22 Bartlett Street, Riccarton.
My philosophy is perfection. I aim to provide optimal dental care that will stand the test of time. I believe it is our obligation to research and implement new technologies and techniques into our practice. This has meant an enormous commitment to continuing education and the purchasing of equipment to match the advancements. I am currently travelling to Seattle Washington, USA to attend a 9 part series course at the Kois Centre which cover all aspects of modern dentisty utilising the latest in world dental research. Our treatments are minimally invasive, biomimetic (mimic biology), best practice and are evidence based. I am confident we offer the best in world dentistry today.
I am blessed with a beautiful family - my wife and business partner Christine Duxbury and our 4 children - Millie, Meg, Lucas and Josh. In addition to spending time with my children, I am passionate about sport - both playing and supporting my children. I currently play soccer and touch rugby, jog and go to the gym for fitness. I also enjoy fly fishing, sailing and wine appreciation.
