What is CEREC 3D?
CEREC 3D is the latest system used for all ceramic crowns, inlays and onlays. It utilises the latest in dental and computer graphics technology. CEREC stands for Chairside Economical Restoration of Esthetic Ceramics and was first introduced in 1987. With CEREC, dentists worldwide have performed over 7 million dental restoration procedures.
What can a CEREC procedure do for you?
CEREC dental materials provide you with fillings, implants etc that closely match that of a real tooth, in feel and colour. No more amalgam, gold and other metal in your mouth!
Before
Because of bio-compatibility, you will be able to eat both hot and cold food comfortably. Your tooth implant or restoration will expand and contract like a real tooth.
CEREC dental materials allow your dentist to preserve your healthy gum tissue. The ceramic is chemically bonded to an existing tooth.
CEREC allows your dentist, with the help of Computer Graphic Arts, to treat your case specifically so your fillings or implants are comfortable, good quality and great looking.
After
How is a CEREC procedure completed?
First, your dentist will prepare the tooth after decayed and weakened tooth tissue are removed. Then they will make a 3D image of the area with a measuring camera, which is in place of the general paste and impression tray.
Next, your dentist will design the contours of the restoration via a computer with your 3D dental image.
After this, CEREC's 3D system perfectly shapes your restorative piece out of a tooth-coloured ceramic block. The milling of your filling or crown will be performed right in the office.
Lastly, the CEREC restoration is placed into your mouth and your dentist will file it until it appears nearly exact to real tooth enamel.
What are the benefits of the CEREC 3D system compared to older, more conventional methods?
