I hadn't visited a dentist for a long time so my treatment was considerable - from deep fillings to crowns and bridges. At no time did I feel stressed or anxious, and even the electronic local anaesthetic was ‘painless'. I have total trust in the entire team.

What’s in a Smile?

It is no secret that people with a pleasant smile, with straight white teeth get further ahead professionally and socially the world over.

You may not agree with this social judgement but it has been shown in study after study it is just the way it is.

The team and Duxton Dental are qualified cosmetic dental surgeons and have the skills and artistry to give your teeth the edge that will ensure you give a smile you are proud of. We unlock the beauty in everyone’s smile.

It’s true - smiling makes you happier, healthier, more attractive and you live longer.

Duxton Dental Makes You Smile

Amalgam Alternatives

Duxton Dental has been amalgam free for almost 20 years. In that time we have evaluated what are the best procedures and techniques to give you great looking, long wearing, amalgam free dental work.

Options range from composite resin which creates white fillings that are placed directly in your mouth and are ideal for small to medium sized restorations. Hardened preformed composite onlays, porcelain or zirconia crowns are available and give maximum strength and protection. These are worth considering for medium to large restorations.

Gold can still be used for high stress areas such as the back lower molars but these days there are equivalent tooth coloured alternatives like zirconia or emax crowns.

Teeth Whitening

When it comes to tooth whitening, there are a number of choices including whitening toothpastes, traditional home bleaching kits and cosmetic dentistry services offered in a dentist’s surgery.

The team at Duxton Dental is asked for their professional opinion about the best whitening procedures every day.

Owners Grahame Dutton and Christine Duxbury have investigated all tooth whitening dental care options looking for the safest, quickest, most comfortable and stable process available.

They are excited now to offer the newest innovation in professional tooth whitening.

Duxton Dental are pleased to offer you a free consultation where we will check the current colour of your teeth, educate you about how the tooth whitening works, assess your suitability and see what it can do for you.

Porcelain Fillings | Inlays/Onlays/Crowns

CEREC

Cerec dental fillings are custom designed, milled porcelain dental fillings, made in the surgery while you wait using CAD/CAM (Computer Aided Design/Computer Aided Manufacture).

The tooth is prepared by removing old filling material or decay.

An optical 3D image is acquired with a small camera, directly in your mouth.

The restoration is created on the screen using the image data.

Diamond coated instruments mills a ceramic block to reproduce the design.
The milled restoration is then polished and fitted using special bonding materials.

Porcelain Veneers | Facings

Porcelain Veneers are a very natural, extremely durable veneer bonded to the surface of the tooth. They are placed very precisely so they cannot be detected. They are made of laboratory-processed porcelain and can provide extra strength for the tooth.

A seal forms between the border of the tooth and the porcelain veneer preventing bacteria from penetrating the tooth surface.

The advantages of a dental veneer are that it is:

  • Very lifelike
  • Strong and durable
  • Requires minimal tooth reduction

Filling Gaps

Implants / Crown & Bridges / Dentures

There are a number of options for filling gaps including:

  • Crowns and bridges
  • Implants
  • Dentures

Crown and Bridge

Crown and bridge dentistry is the oldest and most established cosmetic dental treatment option. In general terms, crown and bridge techniques involve cutting down the tooth or teeth to be restored and covering them completely with crowns or “caps”.

In some cases, if the tooth or teeth in question are badly decayed or damaged, crown and bridge is the only viable treatment option. But, depending on your situation, the advancement of cosmetic dental technology has given some alternatives, such as bonding, porcelain veneers, whitening, orthodontics or even tooth implants.

Dental Implants

Dental Implant Technology has developed to the point that it has become a part of mainstream dentistry, especially Cosmetic Dentistry.

To replace missing teeth, implants may be the solution you’ve been looking for.

Recent advancements in tooth implant techniques means that you can enjoy that healthy, natural smile you’ve always wanted. There are a wide variety of cosmetic dental implants available - talk to your dentist at Duxton Dental if you think an implant might be right

for you.
