Micayela Hunter
Dental Hygienist
My role is that of an oral health care educator and clinician. I work with the dentists to improve oral health and help combat periodontal (gum) disease. I assess and evaluate the periodontal tissue and provide preventative advice and care (including scaling and polishing of teeth) as well as treatment of early periodontal disease.
I have many years' experience in the dental profession. I first worked as a senior dental assistant in Christchurch for five years prior to studying as a dental hygienist.

Megan Scott
Dental Hygienist
I became part of the Duxton Dental team in October 2008. My role along with my fellow hygienists is Oral Health Educator and Clinician. My position involves patient education, evaluation of oral health and the treatment of periodontal disease.
On leaving school I trained for two years as a Dental Therapist in Wellington and worked for four years in Otago schools. In 1994 I went to the UK on my OE where I decided to change my career path slightly and trained as Dental Hygienist at Leeds Dental Institute in 1996. After four years of valuable work experience in Dental Practices in London from the NHS to the West End and various trips around Europe, Asia and Africa, I returned to New Zealand.
Since settling in Christchurch in 2000 I have worked in General Private Practice and Specialist Periodontal Practice before joining the team at Duxton Dental.

Corinne Jones
Dental Hygienist
I work as a Dental Hygienist at Duxton Dental. I was born in Zurich, Switzerland, after a few short stints living in France and Australia me, my husband and our first two children moved to New Zealand in 1987, starting in Raglan, then Gisborne before moving to the mainland around 1994 where I can finally admire snowy mountains again! After having two more children and everyone out of nappies and in school, I decided to do something new.
I studied ethnology and biology at Zurich University then taught maths and science off and on at secondary schools. In between teaching jobs I travelled a lot doing odd jobs in the places I visited. I even learnt to produce tofu on a commercial scale! I did my dental hygiene training in Dunedin and since 1998 have worked in two other practices before joining Duxton Dental in February 2009. I was in charge of building up the first bad breath practice in New Zealand and am glad that we offer this service at Duxton too.
